We have a number of products that we have found work great with our dogs. We cannot guarantee these products will work good in your specific situation, but for us they withstood the drool, wear and damage a Mastino can inflict, without being outrageously expensive. Toys Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff® SPORT balls. Kong toys, especially the Extreme Kong. Cuz toys from JW Pet found in most large dog supply stores. Fleece rope toys, although you have to make sure your puppy does not chew off and swallow large piece Other Supplies POG Dog bag from 2 Big Dogs we take ours whenever we travel. Shoulder WAG bag from 2 Big Dogs, works great for walks. While some breeds suffer from conditions due to small or malformed bones, Neapolitan Mastiffs, and other large and giant breeds, usually suffer from conditions related to rapid growth. These conditions include but are not limited to: canine hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, osteochondrosis, panosteitis and hypertrophic osteodystrophy. The adult weight of a Mastino is between 120 and 200 pounds, similar to the average person, but just imagine a child reaching that weight by the age of 2 or even 4 years; the thought is alarming. The rapid bone growth can lead to poor blood supply, increase the chances of abnormal cell growth (cancer) and can increase the susceptibility of the dog to nutritional imbalances. Like with thoroughbred racehorses these conditions can be exacerbated when the dog is pushed to mature and perform at earlier and earlier ages. Since many of these

No matter the breed, purebred puppies are never cheap, most rarer breeds range from $1,000 to over $4,000. Neapolitan Mastiff’s are more expensive than the average Lab or spaniel due to the increased time it takes to breed, raise and sell such giant puppies and due to the small number of litters available per year. With the purchase price you may wonder what else you will receive when you purchase a puppy from BluHouse Mastini. A puppy from BluHouse comes with a fair number of items included with every puppy purchase: AKC Registration Papers (Full or Limited depending on the puppy) A registered ISO Microchip, we want our puppies protected if they ever get lost A puppy packet written by Dr. Robin White of BluHouse Mastini A pedigree All age appropriate vaccines and dewormings A 2 week 100% guarantee on

A puppy is a huge responsibility and a Neapolitan Mastiff is a lot more work then the average Lab or Jack Russell so please do some research and reading before jumping into this breed. We recommend reading through EverythingNeo.com, that web site provides real advise to help you with your choice. A Mastino is not a good choice if…. Your family budget is tight. A Neapolitan is an investment in time and money. Yes, a puppy can cost between $2,000 to $4,000, but the cost simply start there: vet bills, training, food and increased cleaning costs all are exponentially larger with the Neo. For example if a lab gets two tablets of antibiotics a day for an infection, the Neo would get six. If a single $250-$500 vet bill would be a hardship consider another breed of dog. You have

All of our dogs are AKC registered. All of our puppies come with AKC registration. Pet-only dogs will come with limited AKC registration. Limited registration means the dog is registered with the AKC but no litters produced from that dog are eligible for registration and a dog with limited registration is ineligible to compete in a breed competition in an AKC dog show. It is eligible to be entered events such as: Obedience, Tracking, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding, Lure Coursing and Agility. We use limited registration for puppies we don’t think should be used for breeding. To find out more about AKC and registration, please visit AKC.org

The Neapolitan Mastiff is not a ‘kid-friendly’ breed, with a Neo you can never get a 100% guarantee that your new puppy will be good with children. Like any giant breed the Neo can be dangerous around children simply because of their sheer size. Simple innocent play from a rambunctious puppy or a nip from an adult can result in significant injury to small children. Young children who do not know how to behave around puppies can also hurt puppies. Because of this, giant dogs should always be under close supervision when interacting with children, for everyones sake. Neos or other working breeds should never be around, even if supervised, groups of children as their highly charged play can often be too much for many dogs. As a breed the Neo has more of an ‘edge’ then Great Danes and

In a recent poll the top 5 health concerns among Neapolitan Mastiff breeders included: Cardiac: Dilated Cardiomyopathy Hip Dysplasia: Elbow Dysplasia: Bloat Prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid: Cherry Eye Autoimmune Deficiency/Disease: Skin: (Demodicosis) Although at BluHouse Mastini we perform health tests on all of our dogs to try to minimize the chances your puppy will suffer from one of these conditions, we cannot completely prevent all of these conditions. Most giant breed dogs are predisposed to bloat and many orthopedic conditions and Neapolitans specifically appear to have an increase predilection for cherry eye and autoimmune conditions. For more information on health and temperament testing please visit our Testing page. The Mastino Health Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the Neapolitan Mastiff, is currently studying these health issues.
